New profile on measuring gender (in)equality for the Federal Foundation for Gender Equality

© Bundesstiftung Gleichstellung
Together with Lukas Zielinski and Clara Overweg, Andreas Weiland has published a profile on measuring equality for the German Federal Foundation for Gender Equality

In doing so, they addressed the question "How can we measure gender (in)equality?" (in German). They take a critical look at various gender gaps and how they can be measured using gender equality indicators. Specifically, they deal with

the gender pay gap: https://www.bundesstiftung-gleichstellung.de/gender-pay-gap/

the gender care gap: https://www.bundesstiftung-gleichstellung.de/gender-care-gap/

the gender health gap: https://www.bundesstiftung-gleichstellung.de/gender-health-gap/

the gender gap in the labor market: https://www.bundesstiftung-gleichstellung.de/gender-gap-arbeitsmarkt/

the Gender Pension & Wealth Gap: https://www.bundesstiftung-gleichstellung.de/gender-pension-gender-wealth-gap/.

In addition to the current scientific status with regard to these gender-specific inequalities, the underlying constructs for their measurement, as well as intersectional perspectives and possible limitations of the specific equality indicators also contribute.

The text is not aimed exclusively at an academic audience, but also at interested readers with no prior sociological training as well as interested readers from practice and politics
